Nashari Williams is Named Our Teacher of the Year!

Nashari Williams has been named Hodges' and Greenwood School District 50's Teacher of the Year!  We are so proud of you!
 
Mrs. Williams is a dedicated and passionate educator who has made GSI Hodges Elementary her lifelong home. Since beginning her teaching career in 2015, immediately after graduating from Lander University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, Mrs. Williams has poured her heart into the students of Hodges. In 2024, she furthered her expertise, earning a Master's in Diverse Teaching and Learning, also from Lander University.
 
Mrs. Williams' commitment to excellence has been recognized beyond the school walls, as she was honored with the prestigious WYFF Golden Apple Award. She is an active member of the International Teacher's Organization, Delta Kappa Gamma, demonstrating her dedication to professional growth and collaboration. Furthermore, she currently serves as the President of the Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma in Greenwood, SC, showcasing her leadership and commitment to her fellow educators.

More than just a teacher, Mrs. Williams sees her role as a calling. She is deeply passionate about her career and grateful for the opportunity to positively impact the lives of the next generation. She strives to be a source of love, support, encouragement, and stability for all students, past, present, and future, recognizing the profound influence she has on their lives. Mrs. Williams' unwavering dedication and heartfelt approach make her a truly exceptional educator and a worthy recipient of the Teacher of the Year award.

We are kicking off our Summer Reading the week of June 2nd.
Sign up begins June 2 on the Greenwood County Library website on
BEANSTACK ---the same app we used the past couple of years. Our summer
theme is "Color Our World" in which we will enjoy art, color, and
creativity. We have many programs planned for all ages, as well as the
incentives in the past- Top School Trophies, Star Readers, and a Prize
Drawing for Summer Reading Completion.

Hodges Ranks 39th out of 638 SC Elementary Schools!

The numbers are in, and we are ranked ✨39th ✨out of 638 elementary schools in the state of SC!!!! Up 79 spots from last year with kindness, curiosity, and hard work leading the way. Our students and teachers are AMAZING! Congratulations to our fellow D50 elementary schools for moving up the ranks as well. #weareD50

Community-Wide Little Free Library

Take advantage of the Hodges Little Free Library this summer! Simply drop a book you wish to donate in the blue return bin and take a book from the appropriate drawer. Drawers are labeled by grade level bands and adult books. Directions for how to use the library are posted on the wall above the library.
