Important Immunization Requirements for the 2023-2024 School Year

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of immunization requirements for the 2023-2024 school year and is notification that your child will need an updated immunization certificate or exemption prior to attending school on July 26, 2023.

Superintendents/Principals are required by SC law to prohibit any student from attending school until proof of immunization of required vaccines has been supplied to the school. Please review the following:

Immunization Requirements for the 2023-2024 School Year

SC Law requires that all students attending school must be up-to-date with their immunizations and have a current SC Certificate of Immunization or a valid exemption on file. Students who are new to District 50 will have 30 days from the day they enroll to transfer records from their previous school. Current students should already have a certificate on file. Any current student who does not have a valid Certificate of Immunization or exemption on file will need to provide one on or before the first day of school – July 26, 2023.

Valid SC Certificate of Immunization   (obtain from Health Department or Health Care Provider)

  • K4: must follow daycare rules
  • K5 – 6th grade: must include shots received after the fourth birthday
  • 7th – 12th grade: must include the required Tdap booster to enter 7th grade

Valid Exemptions

  • Qualify under the McKinney-Vento Act
  • Religious Exemption (must obtain from Health Department)
  • Medical Exemption (must obtain from Health Care Provider)
